The Child Development Center (CDC) at Chapin Baptist Church was started in 1980 and is licensed with the South Carolina Department of Social Services. The CDC uses a full size sixty-six passenger bus to transport children. Children are provided with before and after school transportation to Lake Murray Elementary and Chapin Elementary Schools. After school pickup transport is provided for Little Mountain Elementary. Our bus driver has a commercial drivers license.
Children aged from six weeks through fifth grade are accepted by the CDC. As of January 2, 2007, the CDC had 79 school age children and 116 preschool children enrolled.
The CDC opens at 6:30 AM and closes at 6:30 PM Monday through Friday. Major holidays are observed (New Year's Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day).
Part-time staff positions are currently available.

Programs
The Child Development Center offers students large playgrounds. The playgrounds are age appropriate and include a toddler playground, a preschool playground, and a playground for school age children.
Our Summer Program is set up like a summer camp with lots of fun activities for the children. Some of these activities would include field trips, center wide activities, a carnival, puppet shows, and Vacation Bible School.
After school programs include weekly planned Bible studies, character building lessons, and study hall with volunteer tutors. CDC students also have supervised access to Crooked Creek Park, located next door to the CDC, for gym free play, picnics, and sports including soccer and softball.
