Paster Ken will begin a new series called "Seven Wonders". These messages will ask seven common questions that people often wonder about. Such as: Does God really exist? Is there life after death? Am I unique? Why do I feel so lonely?

We are down to the last week before our 2006 Men's Retreat. This year we have over 50 guys who have signed up to be a part of this year's experience. This is the largest group we have had in the last seven years of planning this retreat. Over the course of the weekend we will be looking at what authentic manhood looks like in today's culture. Our culture gives many mixed signals of what it means to be a man. Most of those signals are a contradiction of what the Bible says real manhood looks like.

Pray for these men as they look in to God's word for answers, fellowship with one another, and enjoy a weekend of spiritual refreshment.

Pray that this will be more than just a great weekend away. Pray that this weekend will be a life altering weekend for our men.

Teenagers are funny. They are a bit like aluminum foil. They reflect the world around them, they are easily moldable, they have great strength, but can easily be torn. They are wonderful when handling food. Student ministry is kind of funny too. We try to help our students learn how to reflect God, not the world, to be molded to the Word, to be vulnerable and compassionate, but also solid in Christ. And of course, there's the food. The problem we run into is not teenagers are to much of a handful, they are way too fun for that! The problem is we don't have enough normal people willing to give their time to be used by God. So the next time you see some aluminum foil, maybe you should consider whether God wants you to serve in the Student Ministry.

I love this church! This past Sunday, I saw a student who was visiting Chapin Baptist for the first time. She was nervous, a little shy, and probably afraid. I went over to her and introduced myself, but soon after I had to run off. The next time I saw this student, she had a smile on her face and was talking in her Bible Study. This past week, I saw another student struggling to find God's will for her life. But she wasn't doing it alone, another student was joining her in her struggle. That is just two examples of the vision of our church being carried out - people connecting with God and becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ - and that is a beautiful thing. Keep up the good work everybody, God is changing people's lives.

From the Associate Pastor - A Routine or an Adventure, It's My Choice

Today when you awoke and God blessed you with a new measure of His grace and mercy, did you begin a daily routine or an adventure? Did you start going through your list or did you begin an adventure of discovery? As I begin each morning, the choice is mine. There are definitely things on a list, my list, that have to be tackled each day. But there is also the adventure of discovering what I can learn from the relationships God allows me to touch. There is the adventure of what God is going to do through me to touch the life of someone else amidst the details of the day. In the Message, Proverbs 16:9 is translated this way: "We paln the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it." I don't know about you, but I want to live a life of adventure instead of a life of routine and only God can help me live that way. What have you learned from your week of living in community with others?..........Serving the Lord with you, Steven
