"My hope in writing is to glorify Jesus Christ, and to encourage you to love Him with all of your heart. I pray that you get a glimpse of the Father through these words and devotions. My desire is for heart-strings to be tugged and souls to be searched as I express my adoration for Jesus."

The Throne of God

One Sunday evening, some friends and I were sitting together talking about our love for Christ. We were about to offer our prayers and thanksgiving to God, when my precious friend shared her visual picture of God's throne in Heaven. As we closed our eyes and opened our hearts, tears ran down my face as I listened to her descriptive words. My prayer time with the Good Lord will never be the same.

Take my hand now, as we journey to God's holy throne together...

You are alone in the place where you often worship and bring your prayers to your Father God. On calloused knees you kneel, and with your face turned up toward Heaven, you plead to the Father to forgive your sins.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Purify me from all unrighteousness and forgive my sins, Father.

Your face is turned toward Heaven and the crimson blood of Jesus is pouring down over you. As it cascades down, every part of you touched by His holy blood is turned as white as snow. You are cleansed without blemish; forgiven. Clothed in a robe of righteousness, your heart and soul are now prepared to approach the Father's throne. With confidence, you are ready to receive mercy and are prepared to find grace to help you in this time of prayer.

Dressed in righteousness you enter into the Holy of Holies, the Throne Room of the Lord Most High. His glory is so incredibly bright and intense, you must shield your eyes. His power and majesty flash as lightening from the throne. The Son of Man is so holy and magnificent; so pure and faithful!

Your ears hear a mighty chorus singing:

"Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come."

Looking down, you see the white cascading robe of the Lord God filling the temple. You can no longer stand in the presence of His Majesty, so you fall prostrate on the ground. His glory is so illuminating that you can hardly raise your head to see! Speechless, your tears fall upon the hem of the snow white robe.

Hovering all around you, the blessed Holy Spirit wraps you in a blanket of peace. The joy rises up within your soul, and you begin to sing praises to your Holy God! Your voice carries through the throne room and you join the heavenly beings in singing praises:

"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being."

As your singing becomes words of adoration, the praises leave your mouth and heart, rising up to the Father as incense. Your prayers are as a sweet, thick fragrance drifting up to Him, and He is pleased. Worshiping the Sovereign Lord with awe and humility, you feel His power and Holiness.

You then feel a warm, gentle touch on your shoulder. Lifting your bowed head, you suddenly see the nail-pierced feet before you. The Son of God has left His own holy throne beside the Father to support you. The Messiah glances at the Father, and you hear Him say,

"Yes, Abba. She is surely one of Ours."

Your Glorious Lord reaches down to help you stand, and as He does, you see your name inscribed on the palm of His mighty hand. Your heart rejoices in the presence of Jesus!

The Lord looks at you and begins to speak to the Father on your behalf, interceding for you. He is all knowing, and sees your heart and all it holds. Because of His holiness, you suddenly feel unworthy to be in His presence. But the hand of Jesus is holding yours, and you understand that He will never let it go. The Blessed Savior is holding you up, and looking in your eyes, He says,

"Remember who you are, beloved. Because you have received Me and believed in My name, you are My child. You are now a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come. Take heart, child, for I am your High Priest. I prevail for you and speak to the Father on your behalf. I hear your cries, beloved servant. Because I have faced and endured every single trial and temptation you will have in this life, I truly know your suffering. I always hear your prayers. Have faith and continue to trust in Me. Remain in Me and I will remain in you."

As you worship before the majestic throne of our Holy God, praying and listening with courage and humility, our Father watches. I think His face reflects pure compassion and indescribable love. He may weep for your heart's cries. He might smile because your heart is faithful and trusting. If you ask above all else for His perfect will to be done, He will be pleased.

As you finish your prayers in the name of Jesus, the Lord kisses your bowed head with tenderness, and envelops you with His blanket of peace. You have been in the presence of royalty. Since spending precious time with both the Father and the Son, your face is now radiant, glowing with the joy of the Lord! Continue to love Him with everything you have. Touch Him with your prayers! When you seek Him with all of your heart, you WILL find Him.
