The Saints of OldDo you ever wonder what it will be like when you get to Heaven? I just cannot fathom what I will see and feel, sitting at the feet of Jesus. I must confess that I also look forward to talking with the wonderful Saints of Old. Reading about their lives in the Bible stirs my curiosity. I have so many questions to ask... Adam, dear man, the very first one, To walk on the earth with the LORD. Created in the image of the LORD Himself, His breath was the life in you, poured. What did you feel, Adam, when you first saw Eve? Was her beauty almost too much to bear? What was it like when you ate of the fruit? In Eden, did you leave your tears there? Abraham, looking up at the heavens, For God told him to look and see: "Count the stars, if indeed you can count them; so numerous shall your offspring be." Tell me about the near sacrifice of Isaac; What were you feeling before the ram you received? Your righteousness and faith were credited to you; Father of Nations, you trusted and believed. Moses, kind man, friend of the LORD; Chosen to lead God's people and set them free. You spoke with God daily, And you spoke on His behalf; Your face shining bright with His glory. Tell me about the amazing day, When from the Egyptians your people did flee. What was it like when you raised your staff high, And divided the waters of the sea? Did you stand in God's presence; Did you weep or smile? Were you startled when He'd answer your call? You were gentle and humble, More than anyone on earth; God trusted you to declare His law. David, beautiful soul, to you I most relate; You are my very favorite Saint of Old. You were but a Shepard boy, Who even then had faith in God; Man after God's own heart, Anointed with a crown of gold. King David, so human, you wrote the book of Psalms; When I read it , my heart feels your joy and fear. "Who am I," you asked the LORD, "to deserve Your blessings and mercy?" God turned your wailing into dancing; Drawing you closer; wiping your tears. Israel's Singer of Songs, you cried out to God; How did you know to praise Him in spite of your grief? Full of wisdom, you were, To recall past blessings. An heir to Christ, you had amazing belief. Lord Jesus, Son of Man; Oh! To be in Your presence! May I just sit, And see Your beautiful face? Hold my hand, Holy Father, As my tears of joy fall; I am forever with You in this Wondrous Place. May I ask You, Lamb of God, Just one thing? It grieves me to think, for me, Your blood so generously did flow. How is it, Worthy One; Prince of Peace' Word of God; That unconditionally, You can love one like me, so? "I died for you, Child, that was the plan all along; I bore your sin so you'd have life from the start. This gift is nothing you have earned, But by faith, you have received; You are Mine; Lavished love, I will impart. I delight in you, Dear one, You are the apple of my eye; One day your heart and mind will truly know. But until then, child Just accept it and take My word This is how I can love one like you so.
