Just One Wish
What would you say to the Lord of the Universe,
If He asked you a question such as this:
"I will give you any one thing you desire, Dear One,
How can I bless you; what is your one wish?"
Remember King Solomon, David's son,
How God asked him this question one night;
The king did not ask for riches or honor,
But for wisdom to lead God's people right.
The Lord was so pleased that He blessed this king,
And gave him knowledge, wisdom, and grace.
Because he honored God and had faith in Him,
Solomon built God's dwelling place.
Now many seasons in my life have come and gone,
With each one, my answer differs much.
At one time, restored health, was what I longed for;
Craving God's healing touch.
Another time, it was joy, that I really longed for;
I would have loved to see His glorious face.
And still another, to know His will for me at the time;
To feel His peace, without a doubt, know His grace.
As the time has passed, my answer has changed;
Lord, there is now one thing I truly long for:
That is to have a heart like Yours, Lord Jesus, Son of God,
Simply to truly love others so much more.
I want to feel others' joy and grief,
Be undivided; steadfast; created new.
Please change me and bless me with this one wish;
To truly love all of Your children, as You do.
Praying for the desire of my heart, Alison
