"My hope in writing is to glorify Jesus Christ, and to encourage you to love Him with all of your heart. I pray that you get a glimpse of the Father through these words and devotions. My desire is for heart-strings to be tugged and souls to be searched as I express my adoration for Jesus."

Characters of the Christmas Story

As we count down the upcoming weeks leading to our Savior's birthday, I wanted to focus on each of those involved in the Christmas story. In keeping with Pastor Ken's sermons on the manger, I hope to give you a glimpse into the hearts and minds of those characters. I pray that you will love Jesus even more this holiday season, as you read His wonderful story.

The Angels

It had been 400 years since the Jewish people had last heard a word from the Lord God Almighty. Heaven had been silent and God's people were hungry for His voice. Unknown to these children of God, the Father was preparing to bless them with much more than a word. He was going to give them The Word, His glorious Son.

As the Hosts of Heaven were preparing to announce the most amazing news, their joy and wonder could barely be contained. The Lord Jesus, who sat on His throne in Heaven, was coming to earth, wrapped in a small cloak of human flesh.

At the Father's command, the Angel of the Lord, descended to the earth, and soared with lightening-speed to the small town of Nazareth. It was there, that the Lord's ambassador began to prepare and encourage the unsuspecting servants of God.

When the time came to announce the Good News of Christ's birth, the voice of a single angel was sufficient. Yet, as the Lord's angel proclaimed the wondrous news that Christ the Messiah had been born, the Heavenly Hosts could not merely sit by and quietly observe. In all of their beauty and splendor, a great company of angels suddenly appeared. And as their many voices lifted as one, they shouted praises to God. The glory of the Lord filled the night sky, and all of Heaven celebrated.

An Angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them... Luke: 2:9
