A Picture of God’s Providence and Provision
Chapin Baptist Church is the result of God’s providence, as He led Dutch Fork Baptist Church to plant a church in the Chapin area in 1972. The first gathering of this mission initiative was held on Sunday, October 1, 1972, at Chapin High School, when Chapin Baptist Chapel was formed. The Lord’s guidance and provision caused this group to thrive and grow quickly. On Sunday, January 27, 1974, a body of 119 people was organized into Chapin Baptist Church.
A year later on January 26, 1975, Chapin Baptist dedicated its first sanctuary and educational meeting space. God continued to prosper His church, and in September 1977 the Educational Building was completed and dedicated. In 1984, the Educational Annex and Fellowship Hall were added to accommodate the additional and projected growth of the church.
In 1980, a significant ministry was established by Chapin Baptist when it created the Chapin Baptist Child Development Center (CBCDC), which is a licensed childcare facility whose mission is to nurture, teach, and minister to children and families in the Chapin community, according to Biblical principles. CBCDC opened in August 1980, and has grown considerably over the years. This ministry continues to bless families of the Chapin area with a Christian-based childcare option.
In 1996, Chapin Baptist determined to design and build a new Worship Center, and renovate the old sanctuary, administrative, and educational facilities, as the existing facilities could no longer contain the growth God had brought to Chapin Baptist. The first service in the new Worship Center was held on September 12, 1999. Several years later, continued growth necessitated additional facilities to minister to an increasing number of children and youth. A dedicated youth and children’s building was constructed and was dedicated on August 22, 2004.
God’s hand of providence, provision, and protection has remained on Chapin Baptist and He continues to bless the faithful service of His people to His Kingdom’s work.
